Dec 9

I am guilty for being a slacker in updating my blog. There is so much to update....
I turned 30 officially 2 days ago. I was mentally prepared to embrace the BIG 3-0 since the beginning of the year. My family member did not realise it was my birthday..and I am still silent about it. Anyway, I gotten my birthday present yesterday..my favourite indulgence...Body Shop Spa Wisdom Collection of body lotion and body mask. Incase you wondering what they are, its of luxurious hydrating puree of ros hip and andiroba for the lotion with a combination of geranium and grapfruit essential oils for the mask. Their delicious smell still remains on my skin when I woke up from bed the next day.
Few days back, one of my pupil's parents SMS me about her daughter, Laila. Doctor proclaim that she has epilepsy. I visited her in NUH with Rina. The first time I saw Laila, I nearly could not recognised her. The big brown eyes girl is in half coma. According to her mom, Laila had too many fit for a day. Doctor has to put her to sleep in order to stabalise her brain wave. When I visited her that day, she had not been having any fits for the past 3 days. Her close lids were twitching too when we were talking to her. That shows she was able to hear us. Whatever it is, I have faith that Laila is going to be well again. It is now just a matter of time.
According to mom, the traditional method which grandma used to cure fits in kids was using ingredients like cooking oil, sliced small red onions and 'daun geroda' (I didn't know what it is called in english). Recite selawat and placed it over the kid's face. All these 'petua' I find it useful. Most new generation either didn't bother to learn some useful 'petua' or they would find its all craps. For me, these are all treasures. If only I would have asked my grandma to teach me her skill on how to massage on sprained vein. That skill could come in handy.
I managed to close my first auction in ebay. Though I made a lost of approximately S$10, at the least I was able to cover slightly more that 50% of the cost. After consideration, I decided to sell items which has low cost of production and those clothes which I would like to clear. At least, that could help to ease my bloated wardrobe and gives me an excuse for more shopping! Ummm....
Losts more to write but I have to get to the post office first..
To be continued...

Revived after 2 months

It actually slipped my mind that my blog is almost dead! I am here to revive things up. The last time I wrote was 2 months ago. And I hope I will not need to wait for another 2 months to post something in here again. Anyway, what else is new? Life has been simply buzzzzyyyyyyyyy. Especially after 44 cases of HFMD which has hit the school since the past 2 months. Teachers have been busy as well. Its cascading down... Sup pressured 'Emily' -> 'Emily' pressured teachers. As a result, we have to report work as early as 645am to baby sit kids who come early to schoool. On top of that, it is the exam week where we be working double sessions. The only thing I am glad is, now we work 5-days/week. It makes a lot of difference to me.

I can't remember that I went through any systematic way of learning how to read. All I can recall is...mom sitting beside me teaching me to spell and match the sound. Most the time, I was struggle to learn recognising word and to match its pronounciation. I can't understand then how could Sesame Street and readings able to help me improve my English.
Now I realise mom has been using phonics to help me how to read. Phonics is just a term to describe the method of teaching elementary reading and spelling based on phonetic terms. Ever since then, I have been interested to know more about Phonics. So, I attended Prisc's Phonics workshop one Saturday because I was motivated to go. Prisc is so full of drives to share her experiences and strategies with us. Somehow, it motivates me to try out her strategies. I want to learn from experiences how I can reach out to kids who did not know how to read. I can try out the REAP programme from NLB but yet to find out more about it. In the mean time, I want to apply the strategies with my own 'sheeps' in class. We have 2 weeks after the exam. While the rest of the class are busy with some educational games, my weak lot will be with me for phonics lesson. Will try it out and post my results later in the month. I have not even started, yet I am all eager to know the outcome of my little experiment.

Its a break away from school!

Its the HOLIDAY!! Yeahhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Despite that two days I was down in school, I don't have much complain cause at least I have time away from work. After a whole month of pulling a straigh face in class, I have eased up a bit. When the school reopens, I have to start again pulling a straight face infront of the kids in school...you know how tiring that is?? Especially when I know tht I am not being myself. However, the disciplinary image of me in the kid's eyes helps alot to get me done with my work the way I want it to be.

In most school, P1 and P2 are usually ruled by the ladies. However, in this school, there are 3 males working with us. Its a pleasure to have them around.........reallyyyyy. Only recently, Rina picked a common trait among them. Well, there is SY whom blew up at the Brass Band for innocently interrupted his singing rehearsal, then there is PA whom is so sensitive when someone calle him 'Uncle' and there is Ed whom do or die say the male MUST own a toilet of their own...no sharing. Thats our P2 heroes..things which we can compromise among ourselves or just to take it lightly, suprisingly, they over-reacted.

My friend introduced me to a new source of income...MLM (multi level marketing). It promises free time in hand and yet generating income through your associates whom work in the same team as you. At the same time, one is generating income through sales. I am not that interested in sales. Will not be able to sell the product unless I really believe in them. In the beginning I was interested to know more about it, however, when I get to know that its something to do with sales, I think I will give it a pass.

Its gonna be a tight holiday, where the whole family will be busy preparing for sis's function this coming Saturday. I wonder how does she feel. Frankly, if I am in her position, I won't know what to react or what to think for that matters with all the hassle. Just going with the flow in life is not that bad after all. Anyway, we are all looking forward for this Saturday:) Sadly, I won't get to display my final product of Project Red Curtain cause mom decided to leave those curtains for the coming raya.

Politics

I was actually looking forward to the new year cause it is going to be a fresh start. New environment, new colleagues and new stakeholders to start with. So...when my previous superiors called to arrange for a meeting, it reminded me of the unsettled matter from the past. As much as I dread seeing them again, I have to do so inorder to get myself heard. Everyone has a voice. But not everyone is willing to come forward to get himself heard when he knows that he has been unfairly judged..especially when it involves his rice bowl. I am very sure that am the last person they thought would come forward to stand up against their decision. BUT when my conscious is clear and I have evidences to support that there are somethings they've "missed", I will come out from my shell to speak.
And so, when I entered the room, its me alone Vs the decision of the panel. It appeared to be an open conversation where they gave me a chance to support my words. However, as I tried to do so, they lead me to realise that there is a misconception of understanding on my part. After I came out from the room, I still believe I have a case to fight but they do also have a point. Then, this morning it hit me hard that I have just been smoked...AGAIN! It is not right for them to make comparison of me with others whom are doing the same job scope. Instead, whats written in the book is .... it should have been comparison of me with those whom are in the same grade as myself. Blame it on my unalertness and ignorance!
I have never liked politcs...not even inter-countries politics. However as long as one is dealing with people, politics is inevitable. That is why, my priority has always been my family cause politics is never in their dictionary.
Nevertheless, I know that at least I have tried. I realise that...to know these administrative issues at my fingertips are never to be taken for granted cause I will never know when the knowledge comes in handy.
The verdict of it all, I shall leave it to HIM.
